Leftover ‘Best Picnic Bean Chili’

Picnic Bean Chili

So what to do with the left over picnic beans from Sunday night? Chili sounds good and easy too!  Just need to add a few things to transform the picnic beans.

  • ½ lb hamburger
  • I can organic diced tomatoes
  • 12 oz bottle of beer (I used Schilling 90)
  • 12 oz water
  • 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp chili powder

Brown the beef, drain excess fat and add to beans in dutch oven or stock pot. Add remaining ingredients and bring to boil. Reduce heat to simmer and cook for about an hour, stirring occasionally. Serve in bowls, topped with cheese and sour cream if desired.

The sweetness of the beans mixed with the heat of the chili powder made for great flavor. I must say one of the better chilis I have made lately!
