So why would I make my own tartar sauce? First of all it is really easy and second you know what the heck is in it!! Here is a store bought tartar sauce:
And this is America’s favorite! Look at those ingredients – high fructose corn syrup??? modified food starch – what the heck is that? Hmmm I like to know what I am eating.Here are my ingredients:
1/2 cup good mayonnaise
2 tablespoons small-diced cornichons
1 tablespoon Champagne vinegar
1 tablespoon capers
1 teaspoon dijon mustard
Pinch kosher salt
Pinch freshly ground black pepper
Nothing crazy or unidentifiable here. And here is how easy it is:
Place all the ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. Chill for at least one hour before serving.
That is all there is to it. Not only does it go great with fish but Kris loves it on french fries!!!
